Since Help pages have been disabled and Shared Help can be a bit disorienting for casual editors, I'm starting this advice column to address editing problems specific to the BRPG Wiki.
First off, thanks to Tahakki for the promotion! I'm honored to be an admin and hope I'll live up to the expectations people have of me.
Anyway, here's the first installment of the Advice Column.
If you've been around for a while, you've probably seen this on some pages:These are called templates. Little boxes on the side of the article with basic info about your character or event or location. They're very cool, but how do you make one for your own article?
When you edit a page, at the top of the toolbar you'll see the 'Insert' section, with 'Template' as one of the options. Like so:But the templates displayed aren't the ones you need! You're not looking for Template:Welcome, or Template:Wikipedia!
Well, for that, you just scroll down to the 'Other template/magic word' option, and click on it. A mostly-blank window will appear. After that, go down to the bottom left corner and click on the 'Choose another template' option. After that, you'll see a list of templates, including 'Player Character', 'Location', and 'Event'. Click on one of those, and the window will disappear to be replaced by your article and a green puzzle icon.
Click on the puzzle icon, and another window will pop up, ready for you to add info and customize as you need.
And there we have it, a guide on how to use templates!
But, you might ask, isn't this a bit convoluted for what should be a simple process?
I agree, and I'm trying to figure out a way to move the 'Player Character' and other commonly used templates to the first drop-down menu, and remove the less-commonly used ones such as 'Wikipedia' and 'Welcome'. But for now, you'll just have to make do with the longer process.
